PRIOR TO AND TRAVEL TO THE SHOW
Well, at this time, I was still working at 88.3 CJIQ (I finished Aug 23, 2024), so like many of the prior concerts in recent months, I was up at about 9 a.m. to be on air from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. during this time I was also given an off air task (community update) to write, record and edit before I finished that Friday. Regardless I was going to this show and I was going to be on time. So I brought my charger into the studio to charge my phone while I worked so I could use the draining app called Apple Maps. The drive down was significantly easier then the other times I've gone to Toronto in recent times due to me leaving right after my shift at 2 p.m. to get down. The traffic was less heavy, but still prevalent which made it a little less stressful. I did also get down with enough time have a sit down dinner and time to buy a new pack of cigs.
JIWOO AND BANDCAMP
I won't lie, as much as I loved Jiwoo as an opener and Bandcamp as well... band support and their short star show-off moment Colde gave them, I will brush over them to a degree. Jiwoo's set was actually pretty short, I don't fully remember how many songs he played but shout out setlist.fm for saving me. Jiwoo played only 6 songs total, and Bandcamp showcased 3 of their own.
COLDE
And here is where I make my admission of my lack of "knowing" Colde's music. I do know who he is and had listened to a handful of his songs by the time he announced his tour, and well I didn't know when he might be back or if there would be any other artist of his genre (K-R&B/Hip-Hop/Rap) that would be touring anytime soon. So I bought a ticket for myself and went. And my god was it good, so good I was hyping and raving about him to my dad while still watching. Even more, when Colde announced to us that he would be returning next year I told my dad that he will be coming with me. Colde played for almost 2.5 hrs or so he started at about 8:30 or something like that (it's been a hot minute since I was there, I won't lie.) He played a mix of old and new, music which was great. there were a few songs that he played that I recognized but didn't realize were his.
During his set I couldn't help but notice just how much he actually enjoyed and loved being up on that stage performing, It was so nice to see. His English was actually really great, he had some moments where he spoke Korean, but mainly to ask if anyone knew or spoke the language before returning to English. (I wouldn'tve cared if he only spoke Korean I won't lie.)
There was an encore but I honestly don't remember it, so I can't speak on it. I did leave when they were taking the Kohai group/concert picture so if it happened after that then I did in fact miss it so that is my fault.
DRIVE HOME
The Drive home. It. Was. Hell. There was so many crashes on the Gardiner which I mentioned to my mom (who called me moments prior) who then told me to just get on the DVP. yeah big mistake. I ended up doing a circle of Toronto that costed me a whole hour of my time. AN HOUR. I could've just sat in the traffic. regardless I got home around 12:30 a.m. (instead of 11:30) which honestly pissed me off because I wanted to work on that of air radio assignment I was given but instead, I went to bed because I was exhausted, pissed off, and still had work the next day.
All in all the show was 20/10 in my books, would highly recommend seeing Colde live (as solo or part of OffonOff) and I did also finish the community update in time, I finished the next night lol.
